Tooth Extraction

Comfortable & Gentle Tooth Extractions

When teeth extractions become necessary, Dr. Roach puts your comfort above all else.

Do I Need My Tooth Extracted?

You may need to have a tooth removed if you suffer from an infection, decay, or overcrowding from other teeth. Dr Roach offers surgical and simple tooth extraction procedures for our patients in need of tooth removal.

While most of us never plan to lose teeth in adulthood, dental extractions are a commonplace treatment in restorative dentistry.

Dr. Roach utilizes Mectron Piezo Surgery to gently levitate even the most difficult extractions. This modality takes some time, but leaves the patient with less trauma and ideal bone for future reconstruction.

Common Causes for Tooth Extractions

Excessive tooth decay, tooth infection, wisdom teeth and overcrowding can all necessitate tooth extraction. Additionally, transplant and cancer patients may need individual vulnerable teeth removed to prevent potential disease during treatment and recovery. Compromised immune systems pose a significant risk to patients with tooth decay or oral bacterial infections that spread quickly when undetected and untreated.

Tooth Extraction Procedure

As we say, WE DON'T PULL TEETH. We gently levitate them from the periodontium. Dr. Roach performs all of his own extractions. While removing teeth that are visible to the dentist is relatively straightforward, teeth broken below the gum line can require more attention.

Your tooth extraction will either be simple or surgical, depending on where your tooth is situated at the time of the procedure.

Simple extraction: this is performed with a local anesthetic, which numbs the area around your tooth but doesn’t sedate you. The dentist will use a unique tool to lift and remove your tooth.

Surgical extraction: this procedure is performed when the tooth is fractured at the gumline, requiring Dr. Roach to reflect the gum tissue away to access the tooth. At many offices, these procedures are referred out to an oral surgeon, incurring more visits and more expense. Dr. Roach utilizes specialty equipment including piezo surgery to elevate even the most difficult roots.
